At UBC’s YouCode Hackathon, I worked with a cross-functional team to design Arc’Quest—a gamified app concept for Arc’teryx that promotes wellness through local outdoor activities.

I led the UI/UX design in Figma, creating a reward-based interface that recommends gear and tracks activity. Our clear user focus and polished prototype earned us first place.

"How can we use technology to deliver an Omnichannel experience that engages customers and promotes wellness and healthy lifestyles?"

The Challenge:

Brainstorming:

Encourage engagement in outdoor activities

through personalized recommendations, gamified challenges, and rewards systems.

Deliver a unified omnichannel experience

by aligning messaging and features across mobile, in-store, and wearable platforms.

Promote a holistic definition of wellness

includes mental, emotional, and social well-being—not just physical fitness.

Research:

After identifying our goal—creating a gamified wellness app—we analyzed Arc'teryx’s omnichannel experience and noted inconsistencies between their in-store, website, and mobile platforms. We aimed to bridge this gap by designing a unified platform that encourages outdoor exploration and healthy habits. Market research showed a lack of holistic apps combining route planning and wellness, aside from Komoot, which focused solely on trails.

Design Goals:

Informed by early research on wellness and outdoor activity habits, we established the following design goals to guide Arc'Quest’s development:

Arc'quest is an integrated platform that incentivies and facilitates outdoor activities, wellness practices, and eco-friendly behaviours

Our Solution:

Our project won first place at YouCode x Arc’teryx’s 2024 Hackathon. Judges praised our thoughtful integration of wellness, design consistency, and the potential for real-world scalability. The final prototype showcased a unified outdoor experience that connected gear, route planning, and reflective practices
